Pipes, Valves, and Fittings: How to Find the Part You Need
One of the most frustrating things you can encounter while planning a renovation project or even just making a repair is being unable to find the part that you need to complete the job. Especially when that part is a valve or pressure copper fitting. We've recently overhauled our Pipe Valve & Fitting (PVF) section of our website and this blog will hopefully make it easy for you to navigate.
We get it, proper classifications are crucial when navigating a technical task. Right from the beginning when designing our site we knew if our customers couldn't find the black malleable fittings or the copper tubing that they needed, we weren't doing our part. Below you will find a guide that will teach you how to use our classification system to streamline your next search, making your next purchase of everything from PEX or PVC to Black Malleable or Copper that much easier.
The first step to finding the part you need once you get to afsupply.com is to select the shortcut for PVF (Pipes, Valves, and Fittings).
On the PVF page you will then want to select the type of material you are looking for. We have listings for many different types of materials from black nipples and black pipes to escutcheons and grooved fittings.
And once you have selected the material that your pipe or fitting is made of it is time to refine your search by the shape of the needed part.
After selecting the material and the general shape of the part that you need you can now use the navigation panel on the left of the screen to further refine your search. For instance you can select your required diameter by clicking on the + sign next to Fitting Diameter.
And then selecting the diameter that you require. Also make sure that you have selected “Show In Stock Items Only” as this will hide any out of stock items and reduce the amount of products you have to scroll through to find what you are looking for.
You should now be on a page that is displaying the products that we have in stock that match the material, shape, and the diameter of the product you need if you have followed the steps described. There are of course other categories that you can search through such as price or fitting reducer but hopefully you now have a general idea about how to search for the part you need.
